About JAPC

Welcome to the home of the JAPC! We are "Japanese Anime People in Chicago," at least according to our acronym - cleverly devised by our founder, JenChan. We are a small independent Chicago-based Anime/Manga club for those who would like to meet other fans in the area. We are not affiliated with any library, school, or organization. If you live in the Chicagoland area and the nearby suburbs, and would like to network and meet other people who like anime, feel free to join - we'd love to have you!

JAPC (Japanese Anime People in Chicago) was created by a few friends and I one day in October 2000, sitting around the house wondering how many other people in the Chicago land area (city) were fans of Anime like ourselves. We thought about how cool it would be to just have a small gathering of people, other than the official anime clubs at schools or libraries somewhat like a group of friends whom would like to communicate, but would not know how to find each other.  I started the mailing list back in October of 2000(now Yahoo Group) and was overwhelmed by the outcome. I had NO idea that there were so many people in this city that were fans that wanted to communicate, connect, and network with other fans! We had over 200 members!

This club is operated out of my home, and members' homes. The idea is to keep the meet-ups where they are accessible by public transit for everyone's benefit. Since created, JAPC has been a place to share files, information, images and other Anime related stuff. Some of our social meetups have included movies, resturants, and various stores!

We are not an official club or organization.  We are just like a group of friends, hanging out, and having fun.

ENJOY!
