The JIC, together with the Chicago International Film Festival, is excited to screen the film Shodo Girls for the city of Chicago, free of charge! Shodo Girls tells the story of Satoko, a student of Japanese calligraphy (shodo), who translates her passion for the ancient art into civic pride when she organizes a calligraphy performance contest to revitalize her depression-laden hometown.
