I remember it well. it was 14 years ago (October 23, 2000) today that JAPC was born, in my living room on a cold fall evening. We started out as a Yahoo Group, and at one point we had over 200+ members.
Although this club has seen many changes in the past, the goal remains the same. Connecting anime and manga fans in the Chicagoland area, and promoting a positive image of the fandom.
Quite an accomplishment I’d say, and I have a lot of people to thank for keeping it going all these years.
Sure, there were times recent and past where I felt this club was no longer needed or that it simply wasn’t worth running anymore. Good thing is, every time that has happened, I find a reason or inspiration to keep it going. Whether it’s a new member encouragement from the people who help me with the overall operation, or making sure fans have a place to connect, it’s always been humbling to me to see the excitement and enduring friendships this club has provided for it’s members year after year.
It’s also very humbling to know that some members travel far and take time out of their busy lives to attend our meetings and events.
This club would not be where it is today without the support of it’s members, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Looking forward to many more years to come.
Thank you.
